School Policy for Valedictorian and Salutatorian
Valedictorian
This honor is reserved for the student whose cumulative high school average of all numerical grades (excluding Physical Education), through and including seven consecutive terms/ semesters, ranks first and highest in the graduating class. When two or more students have achieved the same average and are ranked number one, both shall be designated valedictorian. Students’ ineligible for ranking cannot be awarded Valedictorian status but can be recognized under a separate title to be determined by a qualified group of teachers, counselors, and administrators.
Salutatorian
This honor is reserved for the student whose cumulative high school average of all numerical grades (excluding Physical Education), through and including seven consecutive terms/ semesters, second highest in the graduating class. When two or more students have achieved the same average and are ranked number two, both shall be designated Salutatorian.
